Monday, March 12

  • Usborne Book Fair – Mar. 12-16 in the school hallways, M-Th 8am-4pm; F 9am-12pm
    Shop a large selection of beautiful, colorful, award-winning children's books that make reading and learning fun, promoting literacy and the love of reading while raising funds & books for CAI’s Preschool/Kindergarten. All books have sturdy bindings and durable, acid-free pages, and do not have TV or movie tie-ins. Fair includes books, educational activity kits & card packs; no toys, trinkets or video games. The school’s teachers will have their “wish lists” for books they would like for their classrooms. For more information, contact Lynne Falkow-Strauss.
  • Parent-Tot Class, 9:00 – 11:00am
    Open to the public, this FREE weekly class for children up to 24-months in age and their parent(s) is a great way to meet other parents, exchange experiences, and provide an opportunity for the children to play together and engage in age-appropriate activities. We also read a book from PJ Library twice a month. Facilitated by Amanda Stark, various experts from different fields of child development and child-care will visit occasionally to share their expertise and provide opportunities for discussions.   • Talmud on Tuesday, 6:00pm
    The Talmud is an extensive compilation of teachings and opinions of thousands of rabbis over the centuries, covering matters of Jewish law, ethics, philosophy, history, customs, and more. We are currently studying Tractate Shabbat. Learn about the law and lore in the Talmud with Rabbi Robert Eisen as we dig deep into living Judaism. Open to all. No charge to attend.

Wednesday, March 14

  • “Gentle Chair Yoga” – Wednesdays, 9:30–10:30am
    Focus is on increased balance, strength and flexibility in a supportive group setting. Meditation and deep relaxation at end of each class leaves participants with positive healing energy and uplifted spirits. Dress comfortably.     Informal and lively study discussion led by Rabbi Robert Eisen. (Occasionally lay-led.) Open to all. No charge to attend.

  • Targum Shlishi, approx. 12pm following Kiddush
    We are taught to read the Torah Portion of the week, each week, twice: In/From the Torah text (Shnayim Mikra), and again in translation (Targum Shlishi) to ensure that we understand both the form and the function of Torah – what it teaches, and how it can be applied. Today’s topic: “Couscous, Lasagna and Ballet Shoes” with Chen Dinachi, one of our Shinshinim (young Israelis doing a year of service here in Tucson on behalf of Israel through the Jewish Federation). No charge to attend.
     
  • Shabbat Afternoon Torah Study, 4:30pm
    Open to all, this is an opportunity to become more involved in “living Judaism.” Lay-led. No charge to attend. Torah portion: Vayikra

Sunday, March 18

  • Parent Havurah, 11:00am
    This group meets to discuss relevant topics around Jewish parenting and joins with other families to participate in synagogue life to build a vibrant and organic community among young families around the synagogue and to help shape your child’s Jewish experience. For more information, contact Rabbi Barkan.

  • Junior & Senior Lounge, 12:00pm
    All Jewish children grades 7 thru 12 are invited to meet at the synagogue for pizza lunch & tallit making. For more information, contact Rabbi Barkan.
