Monday, October 30

  • Parent-Tot Class, continuing Mondays, 9:00 – 11:00am
    Open to the public, this FREE weekly class for children up to 24-months in age and their parent(s) is a great way to meet other parents, exchange experiences, and provide an opportunity for the children to play together and engage in age-appropriate activities. We also read a book from PJ Library twice a month. Facilitated by Amanda Stark, various experts from different fields of child development and child-care will visit occasionally to share their expertise and provide opportunities for discussions. Feel free to bring your friends; it’s open to everyone! (PLEASE NOTE: We have a mandatory vaccination policy.) For more information, contact Lynne Falkow-Strauss.

  • Open Mah Jongg Play – Mondays, Oct. 30 – Dec. 4, 1:00-3:00pm, (usually 10:00am – 12:00pm)

  • Talmud on Tuesday, 6:00pm
    The Talmud is an extensive compilation of teachings and opinions of thousands of rabbis over the centuries, covering matters of Jewish law, ethics, philosophy, history, customs, and more. We are currently studying Tractate Megillah. Learn about the law and lore in the Talmud with Rabbi Robert Eisen as we dig deep into living Judaism. Open to all. No charge to attend.

Wednesday, November 1

  • “Gentle Chair Yoga” – Wednesdays, 9:30–10:30am
    Focus is on increased balance, strength and flexibility in a supportive group setting. Meditation and deep relaxation at end of each class leaves participants with positive healing energy and uplifted spirits. Dress comfortably.   • Weekday Torah Study Group – Wednesdays, 11:00am
    Informal and lively study discussion led by Rabbi Robert Eisen. (Occasionally lay-led.) Open to all. No charge to attend.

  • Kindergarten Information Night for 2018-19 Class, 7:00pm, in Room 10
    Make an informed decision about your child’s kindergarten experience! Meet Director Lynne Falkow-Strauss and classroom teacher Ronnie Miller to learn about the coming year and curriculum in CAI’s full-day kindergarten. Low student-to-teacher ratio; programs designed to enhance the physical, social and emotional growth of your child; secure facility with park-like playground and much more! Friday, November 3

  • Tot Shabbat, service 5:45pm in Sanctuary; dinner 6:15pm
    This month’s special Kabbalat Shabbat Service for young families to welcome the Sabbath with stories and songs is hosted by our 4-year-olds’ class Shomrim, & will be followed by a kid-friendly Shabbat dinner. $25 per family (2 adults & up to 4 children). Additional adults $10 per person. RSVP by Oct. 30 to Kim.

Saturday, November 4

  • "Read It & Meet" Book Discussion, approx. 12:00pm
    Book selection: Lucky Broken Girl by Ruth Behar, with moderator Rachel Green. Book discussions are held once a month and are open to everyone. We discuss selected books by Jewish authors or with Jewish content, and share our experiences, reactions, and ideas. Moderators facilitate each discussion. For more information, contact Helen.

  • Shabbat Afternoon Torah Study, 3:30pm
    Open to all, this is an opportunity to become more involved in “living Judaism.” Lay-led. No charge to attend. Torah portion: Vayera

  • Senior USY, 6:00pm

  • Parent Havurah/Discussion Group, 10:00am
    Today’s topic: Parenting Styles – Part 2: How to eliminate fighting, arguing and stress from parenting
    This group meets to discuss relevant topics around Jewish parenting and joins with other families to participate in synagogue life to build a vibrant and organic community among young families around the synagogue and to help shape your child’s Jewish experience. For more information, contact Rabbi Barkan.
