The Week Ahead… March 19-25, 2018

Monday, March 19

  • Parent-Tot Class, 9:00 – 11:00am
    Open to the public, this FREE weekly class for children up to 24-months in age and their parent(s) is a great way to meet other parents, exchange experiences, and provide an opportunity for the children to play together and engage in age-appropriate activities. We also read a book from PJ Library twice a month. Facilitated by Amanda Stark, various experts from different fields of child development and child-care will visit occasionally to share their expertise and provide opportunities for discussions. Feel free to bring your friends; it’s open to everyone! (PLEASE NOTE: We have a mandatory vaccination policy.) For more information, contact Lynne Falkow-Strauss.

  • Open Mah Jongg Play, 10:00am-12:00pm

  • B'nai Mitzvah Class, 4:00pm

Tuesday, March 20

  • Religious School, 4:00pm and “Matza Machine,” 5:45pm
    At the end of the day’s classes, Religious School students will load all the boxes of matza donated so far from the “Matza and More” Passover Food Drive to be delivered to Jewish Children’s & Family Services for families in need.

  • Junior USY, 6:00pm. For Jewish children grades 7 & 8.

  • Talmud on Tuesday, 6:00pm
    The Talmud is an extensive compilation of teachings and opinions of thousands of rabbis over the centuries, covering matters of Jewish law, ethics, philosophy, history, customs, and more. We are currently studying Tractate Shabbat. Learn about the law and lore in the Talmud with Rabbi Robert Eisen as we dig deep into living Judaism. Open to all. No charge to attend.

Wednesday, March 21

  • “Gentle Chair Yoga” – Wednesdays, 9:30–10:30am
    Focus is on increased balance, strength and flexibility in a supportive group setting. Meditation and deep relaxation at end of each class leaves participants with positive healing energy and uplifted spirits. Dress comfortably. Members of Women’s League: $6 per class; non-members $8 per class. For more information, contact Evelyn.

  • Weekday Torah Study Group, 11:00am
    Informal and lively study discussion led by Rabbi Robert Eisen. (Occasionally lay-led.) Open to all. No charge to attend.

  • Senior USY, 6:00pm. For Jewish children grades 9 thru 12.

  • Seder Heder: Adult Studies Kollel & Haroset Tasting, 7:00-8:30pm

Friday, March 23

  • Kabbalat Siddur Dedication, 5:45pm
    Join us to celebrate as our 3rd Grade Religious School students lead our Friday night Shabbat service for the congregation and receive their very own copy of our siddur. This very special evening celebrates our students’ Hebrew and Judaic accomplishments.

Saturday, March 24

  • NEW! Junior Congregation, 10:30am
    Join us for this teen-led (13+) Shabbat service for kids of all ages that includes a Torah service so the youth can take ownership of the service. For more information, contact Rabbi Barkan.
     
  • Shabbat Afternoon Torah Study, 4:30pm
    Open to all, this is an opportunity to become more involved in “living Judaism.” Lay-led. No charge to attend. Torah portion: Tsav

Sunday, March 25

  • Religious School, 9:00am
  • Chocolate Seder, 11:00am
    Everyone is welcome to enjoy a yummy seder. Children of all ages and parents are invited, including preschool families for a great program for children of all ages and parents. This will be a tasty experiental way to learn about the Seder! No charge to attend; however, RSVP needed by Mar. 20. Contact Rabbi Barkan.
