Join a Chavurah TODAY!

By Nancy Auslander - Thursday, February 27th, 2025

The antidote to loneliness is community.

Let us help to strengthen yours!

Congregation Anshei Israel’s Chavurah program offers members a chance to connect with one another both inside and outside the synagogue, creating opportunities for meaningful Jewish and social experiences. Through this program, we celebrate Jewish life together.

By participating in social events, life cycle celebrations, learning, Shabbat and holiday observances, you will enhance your life and deepen your Jewish journey. Our chavurot also engage in activities inside and outside of the synagogue building, further enriching your membership experience.

What is a Chavurah?

A Chavurah (plural chavurot), is a group of synagogue members who meet regularly for Jewish socializing, learning, and celebration.

Why Join a Chavurah?

Chavurot are a great way to make new friends and have the warmth and support of a close-knit community within the larger synagogue context.

What Does a Chavurah Do?

Some Congregation Anshei Israel chavurot have held Hanukkah parties, baked hamentashen, shared a Passover seder, enjoyed Shabbat dinner, and attended Shabbat services and other special synagogue events together. Other groups have gone to Jewish cultural events, read and discussed books and articles, attended lectures and concerts, invited outside speakers, gone hiking, camping, to Wildcats games, and even travelled together.
