Monday, January 15

  • Talmud on Tuesday, 6:00pm
    The Talmud is an extensive compilation of teachings and opinions of thousands of rabbis over the centuries, covering matters of Jewish law, ethics, philosophy, history, customs, and more. We are currently studying Tractate Megillah. Learn about the law and lore in the Talmud with Rabbi Robert Eisen as we dig deep into living Judaism. Open to all. No charge to attend.

Wednesday, January 17

  • “Gentle Chair Yoga” – Wednesdays, 9:30–10:30am
    Focus is on increased balance, strength and flexibility in a supportive group setting. Meditation and deep relaxation at end of each class leaves participants with positive healing energy and uplifted spirits. Dress comfortably.     Informal and lively study discussion led by Rabbi Robert Eisen. (Occasionally lay-led.) Open to all. No charge to attend.

  • Targum Shlishi, approx. 12pm following Kiddush
    We are taught to read the Torah Portion of the week, each week, twice: In/From the Torah text (Shnayim Mikra), and again in translation (Targum Shlishi) to ensure that we understand both the form and the function of Torah – what it teaches, and how it can be applied. Today’s topic: “Wired to God… Modern Technology & Jewish Life: Can One Participate in a Minyan via the Internet? Why Would I Want To?!” No charge to attend.

  • Shabbat Afternoon Torah Study, 3:45pm

Sunday, January 21

    Guest speaker Douglas “Lev” Ettelson will present, “An Encounter with Hasidism.” Drawing from personal experience, he will share teachings and songs, and reflect on the changing nature of Hasidism.     This group meets to discuss relevant topics around Jewish parenting and joins with other families to participate in synagogue life to build a vibrant and organic community among young families around the synagogue and to help shape your child’s Jewish experience. For more information, call Rabbi Barkan.
