Monday, November 5

  • Usborne Book Fair – Nov. 5-9 in the school hallways, M-Th 8am-4pm; F 9am-12pm
    Shop a large selection of beautiful, colorful, award-winning children's books that make reading and learning fun, promoting literacy and the love of reading while raising funds & books for CAI’s Preschool/Kindergarten. All books have sturdy bindings and durable, acid-free pages, and do not have TV or movie tie-ins. Fair includes books, educational activity kits & card packs; no toys, trinkets or video games. The school’s teachers will have their “wish lists” for books they would like for their classrooms. For more information, contact Nancy Auslander.
     
  • Parent-Tot Class – Mondays, 9:00 – 11:00am
    Open to the public, this FREE weekly class for children up to 24-months in age and their parent(s) is a great way to meet other parents, exchange experiences, and provide an opportunity for the children to play together and engage in age-appropriate activities. We also read a book from PJ Library twice a month. Facilitator: Lindsey Embree. Various experts from different fields of child development and child-care will visit occasionally to share their expertise and provide opportunities for discussions. Feel free to bring your friends; it’s open to everyone! (PLEASE NOTE: We have a mandatory vaccination policy.) For more information, contact Nancy Auslander.
  • Open Mah Jongg Play – Mondays, 10:00am-12:00pm

  • Women's Study Group, 12:00pm
    Rabbi Robert Eisen leads these monthly group sessions using Pirkei Imahot: The Wisdom of Mothers, The Voices of Women as the core for discussion. Each month we will explore the depth of their teaching with an eye to seeing how we might apply their lessons to the breadth of our lives. Volumes of the book will be available at each class session. No charge to attend. Bring your own dairy lunch; beverages & dessert provided.

Tuesday, November 6 ELECTION DAY

  • Talmud on Tuesday – Tuesdays, 6:00pm
    The Talmud is an extensive compilation of teachings and opinions of thousands of rabbis over the centuries, covering matters of Jewish law, ethics, philosophy, history, customs, and more. We are currently studying Tractate Shabbat. Learn about the law and lore in the Talmud with Rabbi Robert Eisen as we dig deep into living Judaism. Open to all. No charge to attend.

Wednesday, November 7

  • “Gentle Chair Yoga” – Wednesdays, 9:30–10:30am
    Focus is on increased balance, strength and flexibility in a supportive group setting. Meditation and deep relaxation at end of each class leaves participants with positive healing energy and uplifted spirits. Dress comfortably. Members of Women’s League: $6 per class; non-members $8 per class. For more information, contact Evelyn.​
  • Weekday Torah Study Group – Wednesdays, 11:00am
    Informal and lively study discussion led by Rabbi Robert Eisen. (Occasionally lay-led.) Open to all. No charge to attend.

Friday, November 9 Kristallnacht Remembrance

  • Preschool "Danishes with Dad" Breakfast, 8:00am
    Children of the preschool & their dads (or grandpas, uncles, etc.) enjoy a breakfast of Danishes, pastries, knishes, a yogurt bar & fruit prepared by the moms. Includes a fun Home Depot project! Kids $5; adults $10. RSVP by Nov. 7 to Kim.

  • PULPIT EXCHANGE – Friday, Nov. 9 & Saturday, Nov. 10
    The Rabbis of Temple Emanu-el & Congregation Anshei Israel will exchange pulpits in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Kristallnacht: “The Night of Broken Glass.” Many consider Kristallnacht the formal beginning of Hitler’s “Final Solution.” Jewish property was deliberately targeted and destroyed in an attempt to break our will. Let us remember in order that the world never forgets. Join us on:
    Nov. 9 at 7:30pm, Shabbat Service at Temple Emanu-el when Congregation Anshei Israel’s Rabbi Robert Eisen will speak, with special music in keeping with the solemnity of the date.
    Nov. 10 at 9:00am, Shabbat Service at Congregation Anshei Israel when Temple Emanu-el’s Rabbi Batsheva Appel will speak.

Saturday, November 10

  • PULPIT EXCHANGE, 9:00am, Shabbat Service at Congregation Anshei Israel when Temple Emanu-el’s Rabbi Batsheva Appel will speak.

  • Shabbat’s Cool, 9:00am
    All families are invited to join us for this child-friendly Shabbat program. This service, led by and for kids of all ages, includes the reading and exploration of Torah; with a parallel learning session for parents 9:30-10:15am. Today, in honor of Veterans’ Day, we will hear from some veterans from the congregation. Youth later have time to play outside & enjoy Shabbat lunch. For more information, contact Rabbi Barkan.
     
  • Junior Congregation – Saturdays, Nov. 10, 10:30am
    Join us for this teen-led Shabbat service for kids of all ages that includes a Torah service so the youth can take ownership of the service. For more information, contact Rabbi Barkan.
     
  • Shabbat Afternoon Torah Study, 3:30pm
    Open to all, this is an opportunity to become more involved in “living Judaism.” Lay-led. No charge to attend. Torah Portion: Toledot
