Dear Friends,
As we gather for the High Holy Days, we are reminded of the importance of belonging to a community and answering the call. Where are you?
Here we are! הננו Hinenu!
And we are asking you to join us in supporting Congregation Anshei Israel for the coming year.
Our family joined Anshei Israel when Will was in preschool and Robert was on the way. Through the years, we have moved from Tot Shabbat and family services to davening and reading Torah. Through it all, you have been here with us, and we have been here with you.
Showing up is more than being in a certain place at a certain time. It means bringing our attention, energy, and presence. Life pulls us in many directions, and sometimes showing up is not easy. Yet at Anshei Israel, we are met with kindness, smiles, hugs, prayer, wisdom, and community. There are many different ways people connect with God, with Torah, and with the community.
Our mission calls us to be a source of spiritual, educational, and social enrichment. Our clergy and staff, committees, board, and volunteers work constantly to make that possible, but they cannot do it alone. They need all of us.
As a practical matter, Anshei Israel also cannot exist without financial support. We are in this together, and here and now is an opportunity to provide for one another. We encourage you to give what you can. Maybe this year it is a little more; maybe it is a little less. The important thing is to show up and make your presence felt.
Where are you? Here we are.
With wishes for a sweet and meaningful New Year,
Andy & Valorie Douglas

P.S. There are many ways to say “Hinenu” (“Here we are”):
• Give your time
• Attend an event that interests you
• Try an event you might not normally attend
• Get involved in the life of our community
• Support the people working to make Anshei Israel thrive
With your support and involvement, we can continue to thrive as an active Jewish community.
