Monday, March 14

    Our topic for this meeting consists of "one" item: Brainstorming the form and function of our affiliates, Women's League & Men's Club.

Tuesday, March 15

  • Parent-Tot Class, 9:00 – 11:00am
    Open to the public, this FREE weekly class for children 9- to 24-months in age and their parent(s) is fun and educational. Facilitated by Stacey Singer, participants sing songs, make art projects, read stories, have a snack, and share parenting advice with each other. PLEASE NOTE: We have a mandatory vaccination policy. Wednesday, March 16

    Focus is on increased balance, strength and flexibility in a supportive group setting. Meditation and deep relaxation at end of each class leaves participants with positive healing energy and uplifted spirits. Dress comfortably.   • Weekday Torah Study Group – Wednesdays, 11:00am
    Informal and lively study discussion led by Rabbi Robert Eisen.
  • Senior USY, 7:00pm. For Jewish children grades 9 thru 12.
  • Adult Education Kollel (Class): “Not Your Grandchildren’s Purim” – Part 2 of 2-week program 7:00-9:00pm
    Rabbis Robert Eisen and Ruven Barkan will delve into what Purim is really about and why it is so important to reclaim its form and function as adults. It’s not all hamentaschen and groggers!
    7:00-8:00pm – “The Rest of Esther” with Rabbi Robert Eisen: Review of the Additions to the Book of Esther found in the Apocrypha, especially in terms of the questions and issues they address, and why they were not included as part of our scripture.
    8:00-9:00pm – “Mitzvah… or Not?!” with Rabbi Ruven Barkan: Exploration of two “controversial mitzvot” connected with the Festival of Purim and look at what it is we “should” be doing.

  • Heritage Shabbat Service, 9:00am
    As part of this morning Shabbat service, we will give thanks to the generations that gave of themselves to establish and preserve our congregation for the last 86 years. In addition, we will honor our Past Presidents, hear from some congregants as they share memories of how we came to be who we are, and dedicate the Rabbi Lee and Jane Kivel Foyer outside the Sanctuary.
  • Targum Shlishi, 12:00pm; This month’s topic: Gun Control & Jewish Law
    We are taught to read the Torah Portion of the week, each week, twice: In/From the Torah text (Shnayim Mikra), and again in translation (Targum Shlishi) to ensure that we understand both the form and the function of Torah – what it teaches, and how it can be applied. The discussion will follow the Kiddush helping us to discern exactly how we can apply Torah in our world today with regard to important/critical issues. Topics will be introduced through texts, case studies (where appropriate) and opportunities for discussion. There is no charge to attend.
  • Shabbat Afternoon Torah Study, 4:30pm
    Open to all, this is an opportunity to become more involved in "living Judaism." Lay-led. Torah Portion: Vayikra

  • Parent Discussion Group: “The Impact of Technology on our Children,” 10:30 – 11:45am
    As part of a series on strengthening Jewish families in collaboration with JFCS. With all the advances of technology, finding the right balance in your child’s education and well-being can be a struggle. We’ll discuss the impact of technology — positive and negative — in communicating with your child(ren). Rabbi Robert Eisen will provide a Jewish perspective on the topic, followed by a facilitated discussion led by Jacque Kaplan, MSW, LCSW, from JFCS. No charge.
