The Financial Services Manager is part of the administrative team of CAI working in close cooperation with all professional staff of the synagogue. This position is responsible for all accounting needs and functions of CAI. The successful candidate will independently manage the accounting, auditing and other financial or related functions to ensure the financial integrity of the synagogue.

The Financial Services Manager is expected to be a resource for synagogue staff, Board of Trustees, and synagogue members with respect to the wide variety of business and administrative activities of the synagogue. The Financial Services Manager will prepare budgets and regularly monitor cash flow positions; compile information for and participate in external audits; research issues, recommend solutions, and write/prepare related reports with the goal of synagogue-wide accountability and integrity of all business matters; collaborate regularly with the Board of Trustees and its relevant committees on financial forecasting, planning, reporting and other business matters.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, management or related field, or 3 years progressively responsible relevant non-profit experience
  • Knowledge and experience with basic accounting practices including but not limited to: (i) budgets; (ii) salary/wages management and compliance; (iii) fringe benefits management and compliance; (iv) operating financials and balance sheet management; and (v) fund management and compliance.
  • Familiarity with common not for profit accounting and financial management software
  • Advanced experience in the use and development of spreadsheets and complex financial structures.
  • Ability to provide information and guidance with tact and diplomacy to diverse users at many different experience levels.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Compensation includes a salary range of $55,000 to $60,000, a healthcare program and other benefits.
