Assistant
Rabbi Kelley Gludt
|
Appointed
in July 2005 as CAI's Assistant Rabbi & Education Director,
Rabbi Kelley Gludt was ordained from the Ziegler School of
Rabbinic Studies at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles,
California in May 2005.
Most
recently, she interned as Rabbi-in-Residence for the Bureau
of Jewish Education in Orange County. Rabbi Gludt also possesses
a Bachelor of Arts Degree in journalism from California State
University, Long Beach.
From
an early age (despite her Irish-sounding name) Rabbi Gludt
knew her strong identity would lead her to the rabbinate.
While studying for the rabbinate, she accumulated a great
deal of experience in formal and informal Jewish education.
Maintaining a connection with her journalistic roots, Rabbi
Gludt acted as the University of Judaism's newspaper advisor
for four years and taught various journalism courses. She
hopes to continue to educate and challenge Jews of all ages,
inspiring a true appreciation for Judaism in others.
"Rabbi
Gludt has a passion that is contagious," says Rabbi Robert
Eisen. "We are all looking forward to the knowledge,
skills and excitement for Living Judaism that we know she
will bring to our religious school and our congregation as
a whole."

Cantor
Ivor Lichterman
|
Born
and raised in South Africa, Cantor Ivor Lichterman was nurtured
for the Cantorate by his late father, Cantor Jakub Lichterman.
Upon his immigration to the United States in 1976, Cantor
Lichterman pursued graduate Judaic studies at Yeshiva University
and served for many years in synagogues on the East coast.
He has served Congregation Anshei Israel since 1991.
Graduated
cum laude in Judaic Studies from the University of Cape Town,
Cantor has diplomas in music, commercial art, calligraphy,
Hebrew teaching and Brit Milah (ritual circumcision).
Cantor
directs the Junior and Adult Choirs of Congregation Anshei
Israel which perform in Shabbat, High Holy Days and communal
programs. The Junior Choir includes member children in Grades
3 through 12, providing a wonderful outlet for those who love
to sing. The choir provides a fun, enriching Jewish music
learning experience while also giving the children confidence
in their ability to perform. The Adult Choir sings when we
bless the new month at Shabbat services, on holidays, on special
occasions and in concerts. The choir is open to synagogue
members with good voices and basic knowledge of Hebrew, synagogue
ritual and music.
A
talented photographer of synagogues throughout the world,
Cantor Lichterman also possesses a lyric tenor voice. He has
performed with his brother, Joel also a Cantor
on numerous occasions. One event that draws a huge audience
is the Cantor's Concert held biennially at Congregation Anshei
Israel. These concerts include special guests and provide
wonderful evenings full of Jewish music.
If
interested in information concerning Brit Milah, choirs or
concerts, please contact Cantor's secretary at clergysecretary@caiaz.org.
