  • Geniza Field Trip, approx. 10:00-10:15am, Evergreen Cemetery, beneath the archway on the east side of CAI section
As part of the lifecycle curriculum for Religious School, our 5th & 6th Grade classes take a field trip to Evergreen Cemetery. Rabbi Eisen points out the graves of those who are so much a part of the history of our congregation, as well as Tucson at large, and teach the students about our geniza (a place where worn ritual objects and sacred texts are buried), and lead a short service which will include the burial of items that we have collected over the year. This trip is meant to remind us of how much we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us and to help us to feel more comfortable with regard to our cemetery. Many people have expressed a desire to be a part of this unique learning experience. If you wish to join us or have questions, please contact Rabbi Eisen.
